Dermot's Sporting Buddies

A complete guide to Dermot's Sporting Buddies, Dermot's interview show on BBC Choice

Dermot's Sporting Buddies is a series in which Dermot accompanies a celebrity to a sporting event of their choice, along the way uncovering facts about their life, loves and passions. It is produced by Chrysalis TV in association with Murfia Producations (Dermot's production company) for BBC.

It premiers on Tuesday nights at 10.30pm on BBC Choice and programmes are repeated on BBC Choice.

Davina McCall

First aired: 15th October 2002
Sports event: Arsenal v West Ham at Highbury.
Dermot wore: White striped shirt, blue jeans.
On the programme: Dermot and Davina worked out at the gym and had a massage, picnic'ed in Dermot's car and visited London Zoo.



Max Beesley

First aired: 22nd October 2002
Sports event: Manchester United vTottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
Dermot wore: Black coat, black shirt, blue jeans.
On the programme: Dermot and Max visited Old Trafford and the club shop, spotted United and City fans in the street and had a beer at the Spirit Cafe, Canal Street.

 

Huey Morgan (from the Fun Loving Criminals)

First aired: 29th October 2002
Sports event: New York Knicks v Charlotte Hornets at Madison Square Gardens.
Dermot wore: Black jacket, blue jeans.
On the programme: Dermot and Huey visited the house where Huey grew up, the place where he lost his virginity, Sayoia suit shop, had pizza at Stromboli pizza stall and had a beer at the Shine bar.

 

Johnny Vegas

First aired: 5th November 2002
Sports event: St Helens v Salford at St Helens stadium.
Dermot wore: Denim Tommy Hilfiger jacket, blue tracksuit top, blue jeans.
On the programme: Dermot and Johnny practised rugby in the park, visited Argos and the pie shops of St Helens and took some of the town's residents in an open top bus to the Brown Edge Inn where Johnny used to work.

 

Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish

First aired: 12th November 2002
Sports event: Stockcar racing at Skegness Stadium.
Dermot wore
: Denim jacket, grey sweatshirt, blue T-shirt and beige combats. Dark grey Abercrombie & Fitch sweatshirt, blue T-shirt, blue jeans and green Carhartt jacket. Orange and grey racing overalls.
On the programme: Drove to Skegness, stopped at Peterbrough services and bought magazines and the book "Depravicus". Played in Skegness arcades and went to a camp site but ended up in a hotel. The next day they raced stockcars and Dermot was the first to crash.

 

Alice Cooper

First aired: 19th November 2002
Sports event: Golf at the Phoenican Golf Club.
Dermot wore: White/red checked shirt, beige shorts, Adidas trainers.
On the programme: They visited Alice's sports bar, Cooper'stown. Drove to the golf course in a yellow sports car, listening to The Streets, The Doves and Marilyn Manson.

 

Emma Bunton

First aired: 26th November 2002
Sports event: The Derby horse race.
Dermot wore: Brown polo shirt, blue jeans. Blue track-suit top, blue T-shirt, beige combats, brown trainers. Top-hat and tails.
On the programmes: They met at Oatlands Park Hotel in Weybridge and stayed the night. The next morning they went to Weybridge equestrian centre and rode horses. They flew to Epson Downs racecourse in a helicopter, drank squash in a van, lost £1,000 betting on the horses Hawkwind (Dermot) and Bandari (Emma).

 

Sean Hughes

First aired: 3rd December 2002
Sports event: Belfast Giants v Ayr Eagles ice hockey match at the Odyssey arena
Dermot wore: Navy blue tracksuit top and jeans. Blue T-shirt, green trousers, black coat. White ice hockey top.
On the programme: They met at Luton airport, travelled to Belfast on EasyJet and stayed at the Europa hotel. They visited the stadium and played five shots each at goal against each other. They walked around the town and stopped at Queen's University, Good Vibrations record shop and bought CDs and had a drink at the Empire Comedy Club.
